As I have posted on here in the recent days I have been looking for a small SUV, also called a CUV but that sounds stupid. However today came the day to test drive an Escape. That was the plan however when it comes to cars nothing ever goes to plan. I ended up test driving a Blue Candy Ford Focus SE. I have absolutely fallen in love with this car. My short test drive took me onto the interstate and winding roads around coal mines and doing a highly illegal speed with a corvette on the interstate. All in the mileage went from 19 to 82 on this drive, and I accidentally ran it out of gas almost in the boonies. It read 0 miles when the nearest gas station was 5-6 miles away. This will be the car that I will be purchasing.

Hands down best colour I’ve seen on a Focus.

The Focus will definitely make you feel better than you would with the Escape.

I told the salesman that it’s the only paint where I can understand the unmark and actually believe it’s worth it. Sadly besides this one the closest hatch in the same color is over 300 miles away. If I miss this one it’s going to be a long wait.

The only reason I would choose an Escape over a Focus anyway would be if I had to tow stuff occasionally...the Focus can still do it but scraping becomes more of an issue with the lower ride height.

I’m with you. When I went in to look at this one, I had a list of 30 cars to go over, and this was the only new one. They cut me a good deal since it had been on the lot for two months already, and beat the interest rate on the loan approval I walked in the door with.

I have to say I love the color. It stands out in traffic, but isn’t obnoxious. And I love the 5-speed. The chrome stuff can easily get blacked out, and there are a ton of little things you can do to personalize it since it has good aftermarket support.

Oh, and tell me it’s got the sport package at the very least. The Focus SE is still available with drum brakes.

This came up in the conversation as we walked towards the car. I hadn't planned on getting the tow package on the Escape anyways, just like the salesman said I can add a $200 hitch anytime and save $300.

The salesman and I spent some time mocking people for their bad decisions. Like skinny jeans McGee that walked in to pick up his grey convertible mustang. He chose the wrong color and the wrong package the wrong everything. He was also pretentious as hell so he is automatically wrong.

Since I was actually considering the Focus before I walked on to the lot I did some research on them. SE Sport package or Sports Appearance package and above come with 4 wheel disc brakes. The base SE still has rear drums. If running fast is something you do, then stopping fast is important...

Well imagine this scenario from yesterday. Left lane was running around 90-100 and some jackass decided to merge doing 70. That stopping is important and those rear brakes did not want to cope.

Pretty much. I decided a long time ago that cars are not something I need, but things I want. Sometimes they must fulfill a purpose, and sometimes I just fall in love with them/ one and if I can afford it and use it I buy it.
